DANIEL MOREL BIO

Daniel Morel (b. 1981) composes engaging chamber, vocal, and solo music that has been performed across the United States, as well as London. He started his music career playing in jazz combos and soloing at dinner clubs around downtown Denver. Attending Bucknell University (2003), Daniel received a BA in Music, studying composition and piano performance with Bill Duckworth and Barry Hannigan. Having also studied with Conrad Kehn and Cherise Leiter in Denver, CO, Daniel currently lives in Hartford, CT, studying with Larry Alan Smith while working on his MM in Composition at The Hartt School.

He has written/arranged for the Bucknell Jazz Machine and the Arts Street Organization (1999-2001), premiered with the Cherry Creek Chorale ("Sing Loud, Sing High" - 2005, "All the Pretty Little Horses", arr. - 2007), was a winner of the Philharmonia Orchestra's inaugural GrooveSearch competition in London (2007), and received an Award of Distinction from the Longfellow Chorus for his collection, "Longfellow’s Kings" (2007).
